The Online Directory for Sanathana Dharma Scriptures
This website, when complete, will contain the only complete listing of all major Dharmic (“Hindu”) Scriptures and Literature in one location.
This site will contain well-known versions of all Dharmic Scriptures in Sanskrit with English translation in 3 formats:
1) Online (in HTML) (TBD)
2) Downloadable (as PDF files)
3) Purchasable in hardcopy (from this and/or other websites) (TBD)
There are roughly 10,000 total scriptures in the universe of Sanathana Dharma. Of these, about 3,000 are Orthodox (Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, etc. and 1000+ Vedanta) and another 7,000 are for misc. sects (various sampradayas, sectarian)
These scriptures are being compiled by a group of Indologists and Sanskritists with the help of priests and knowledgeable persons from around the world. Our sources are reputable websites, organizations (such as Gita Press, Maharishi University of Management, University of Frankfurt, etc.) and eventually Government of India efforts (such as the Mission Manuscript Project from http://ignca.nic.in – which currently has 1.8 million of 5 million total manuscripts collected digitally) once that effort has produced sufficient results.
The goal is to gather up and organize all Dharmic Scriptures and Literature in order to create a ‘certified’ Dharmic Encyclopedia that should then be available in hard copy at every major Hindu Temple around the world – and will form the foundation for the eventual new, unified “Manual” for Sanathana Dharma – the Dharma Veda (see link on the left for more information). The Scriptures can be viewed and downloaded from the ‘Scriptures’ link at the left. The Literature can be viewed and downloaded from the ‘Literature’ link at the left.
